We're Laying the Table

A community arts project at Sandy Point Community Centre as part of South Gippsland Shire Council’s 2021 Big Art, Small Halls project.

We’re Laying the Table is an ephemeral clay installation made up of over 100 symbolic objects that celebrate the sense of community, the natural environment and what is loved about Sandy Point.

Clay cakes, hooded plovers, gum and correa leaves, cups, plates, bowls and sea creatures were created during a series of clay play workshops and brought together with the community who created them to ‘lay the table’ and celebrate creativity, conversation and community connection.
